BALI: 4-Day Itinerary with Bali Camel Safari & Wanagiri Hidden Hill

by - 11/21/2018 06:00:00 pm

As I committed to myself before, I promised that I would come back to see more of Bali. Just a year after that first trip, here we are! We were a group of 5, so we hired a van and driver to tour us around during our stay. I again contacted Adi from my first trip, so if anyone wants his contact details, hit me up, and I'd gladly share!

I made my own itinerary for our group, but note that this was made for my second trip, so it won't include some major destinations such as Tanah Lot, Ubud Monkey Forest, Nusa Dua, and so on. If you want to get some ideas for that though, you can check out my first Bali blog post here. Now, on to the itinerary - you can download the PDF here for a summarized version, or continue reading below for more details, plus photos!

Day 01: Kuta & Uluwatu

We started our first day with some shopping at Kuta Art Market in the morning. There was no crowd since we got there early! We goto to shop for the famous Bali rattan bags among other things, such as hats, sandals, and even some souvenirs. From the market, we were also able to stroll around Kuta Beach for a bit. The market is located just right across the beach, so it's fairly easy to walk and head back to where we were parked.

From here, we drove around 30 minutes to get to Cabina Bali where we made reservations for our floating brunch! I highly recommend that you make a reservation to make sure that you have a slot. The place has been attracting a lot of visitors, but to make sure that everyone gets to enjoy the experience, they limit the floating sessions to 90 minutes, plus they also have a limit on the number of people they can accommodate at a single time. It's actually fair, and a very organized way to make sure that you get the chance to enjoy your meal and take those instagrammable shots without photobombers behind you! The experience will cost around 800 PHP per person, but in my opinion, it was totally worth it. The brunch comes with 1 coffee or tea, 1 juice or mocktail, 1 bread, 1 main dish, and 1 dessert. The servings were generous, but if want even more, they have different kinds of brunch options, which you can check out on their website

Since the first day was also our day of arrival (we took an early morning flight), we headed to the hotel to check in after brunch. We had some time to rest before heading out again. For this part of the trip, the first-timers in Bali headed off to Uluwatu to catch the sunset, while those like me who've already been there, opted to view it from Legian Beach. We also stayed in Azul Beach Club where we had a dip in their pool, and had our dinner there.

The trip to Kuta from Uluwatu takes about 1-2 hours per way, depending on the traffic. Another thing you should prepare for would be the crowds at this time. It's one of the most popular places to catch the sunset, so expect that you won't be the only one trying to get a good view and a nice shot. The view is worth it though, don't get me wrong - it is always amazing!

Day 02: Ubud

The next day, we were picked up at around 8am to go to Ubud. The travel time took less than 2 hours from Kuta, and to be honest, we were mostly asleep along the way. Our first stop was the Tegallalang area where we saw the rice terraces, did the swing, and climbed the nests. I don’t have a particular recommendation about which swing you should do here since we didn’t really go around all of them, and there were quite a lot that offered it in the area. Point is they’re all fairly similar - the area overlooks terraces and trees, and there are swings of varying heights that you can choose from. Aside from the swings, most (if not all) of the places have different nests that you can visit and take photos. At the end of your adventure, you can sit and enjoy free coffee tasting! We ended up spending around 2-3 hours in the area to do all those things.

Our next stop was Folk Pool & Gardens where we had our lunch and some pool time. I have to say that this is a hidden gem in Ubud where you can chill by the pool and eat good food. I do recommend that you make reservations as well though to make sure that you get a nice spot. We also had a cooking class here, which was very interesting! We were taught how to make a local rice dessert, and we ate what we made afterwards.

Before it got dark, we went to Ubud Art Market and capped off the day at Yoga Barn where we did some yoga. Be sure to check out their schedules if you want to attend a class! After this, we headed back to our hotel in Kuta to get some shut eye.

Day 03: Camel Safari & Canggu

On our third day, we were picked up again at 8am for our Bali Camel Safari. Unlike the usual idea of camel safaris, this one was done on the beach, and not on a desert. But as just like the desert, be prepared for the heat and sun, especially if it's summer season!

After our delightful camel ride, we headed off to Love Anchor Bazaar for some shopping. There are a lot of great finds, but I guess it's just not the cheapest place for souvenirs, I must say. We also had some lunch around the area, and I was so glad that I found Poke Poke Canggu that served delicious poke bowls! They even had some luau props like flower necklaces and grass skirts for all your Instagram needs.

We spent the rest of the day at Mano Beach House at Petitenget Beach. They have really nice interiors, a small pool, and a viewing area that sits right across the sandy beach for an unobstructed view of the sunset.

Day 04: Munduk

It was our last full day in Bali, and again we started with an 8am pickup to head to Munduk. It took around 2 hours to get there. Personally, this was my favorite day! Our first stop was Handara Golf Gate and I was a bit surprised that you now need to pay to take a photo there since it became so popular. It was nice though, just be sure to move fast cause there's even a time limit.

Wanagiri Hidden Hill was our next stop, and the view was just amazing. On the way there, note that there are a lot of places that you will pass on the way that will offer swings and nests as well. I think you should go to this one though, just check out our photos below:

Afterwards, we headed to the Banyumala Twin Waterfalls for a little trek and swim. All honesty, it was a slippery trek, but the parts where there were stairs and hand rails helped a lot. We got to the bottom to be greeted by the waterfalls that look just like they do in the photos. The water was cold, and the place was just serene.

On to our last stop, we we went to Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temple where we were so amazed by how near to the clouds it could make you feel! Atop a plateau on Lake Beratan, this whole temple complex has sites of worship for Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva - sitting in the mountains at around 1,500 meters above sea level. It's cold and windy here, but you can definitely enjoy it!
