  • NEW! Hikes & Trails
The Manila to Tagbilaran flight takes only a little more than an hour, and is the start of a great vacation ahead of you! For this trip, we were able to explore the province of Bohol, including Danao and Panglao.

On the first day, we booked private round trip transfers from our hotel to Danao Adventure Park via Klook! It was convenient, and our driver was on time and professional. He even included a quick side trip to a nice spot where we could take photos at the bottom of Chocolate Hills. Now, fair warning, Danao Adventure Park isn’t for you if you are faint hearted. You just might end up not doing anything at all. But for the rest of you like me, there are a couple of activities that you can do here.

First, we tried the “SuiSlide” which is basically a long zipline which takes you from cliff to cliff. Next off, we also did the Glass Walk, which was the least adrenaline pumping of the three we did, honestly. There’s basically a glass platform at the edge of the cliff where you can walk. Lastly, the one I’d never forget - “The Plunge” - it was a 75m free fall over a 200m high and 300m wide gorge!  You're basically harnessed and dropped from the side of the cliff, and you'll end up swinging, before being slowly pulled back up. That may seem like an underwhelming summary, but believe me, it was so much more nerve wrecking in reality! Check out some of our photos of that below:

For the next day, we spent a full day going around the top tourist destinations including the Chocolate Hills and Loboc. As expected, we met a lot of tourists in the places we visited. There were long lines and busy places, but we still made the most out of it! Our city tour itinerary was as follows:

* Blood Compact Shrine
* Baclayon Church Ruins
* Tarsier Viewing at Bohol Tarsier
* Man-Made Forest
* Loboc River Cruise
* Twin Hanging Bridge
* Chocolate Hills
* Aproniana Souvenir Shop

Our last day was spent exploring Panglao Island. We only went to 3 spots since we wanted some time to ourselves at the beach. Also, we didn’t want to over exhaust ourselves since we had a Cebu day tour from Bohol as well. So we chose to do only the following:

* Dauis Church
* Alona Beach
* Bee Farm Restaurant

When we took our grandparents to Cebu, we had to plan an itinerary that only consisted of city highlights since they weren’t the type to enjoy swimming at beaches anymore. It wasn’t my first time in Cebu, but it was theirs, so it had to feature the most prominent tourist spots for first timers!

The places that we included in our agenda were the following:
1. Fort San Pedro
2. Magellan’s Cross
3. Basilica del Santo Niño
4. Lapu Lapu Shrine
5. Cebu Taoist Temple
* SM Seaside (Additional/Optional)
* Souvenir Shop (Additional/Optional)

With that being said, we booked a private car for our group and set out to explore the city. Check out some of our photos below:

When one of the long weekends in the Philippine calendar is nearly approaching, you can’t help but picture yourself relaxing on a beach somewhere with family or friends. There aren’t a lot of long weekends, so it’s best to make this 3 or 4 day vacation count! But when you head to booking sites a little too late, it can be veery difficult to find a nice beach to stay in for that long weekend. And if you’re like me who looks to have fun and also relax during a holiday, then you wouldn’t be looking forward to the crowds when you get to your destination. Anyway, that’s how I ended up on a flight from Manila to Cebu, and then on sandy getaway at Mövenpick in Mactan Island.

For starters, there was a nice pool that was open until 10pm, which was beside one of the restaurants. There are also other in-house restaurants where you can order food from, and just a few steps from the beachfront, they sell fruit shakes, beer and other drinks. If you want to get food somewhere else, it’s going to take a drive out of the resort to find nearby restaurants or supermarkets.

The beach area was not like Boracay wherein you can swim or walk along the beaches in the vicinity of the other resorts around you. It was limited only to what was solely the resort’s beach area. Nonetheless, it wasn’t disappointing since the beach was not crowded, just like I wanted it. Considering it was a holiday, I was mildly surprised, but mostly happy about that. Another thing I noticed about the place was that most guests were foreigners.

At night, the Ibiza Beach Club opens its doors to welcome guests that come in for the live shows and drinks. The night we were there, they featured fire dancers and Latin American performances. The drinks and food were quite pricy (a bottle of San Miguel Beer costs 200 Pesos or around $4, and cocktails cost around 500 Pesos or $10), so we didn’t get too much. A good spot to stay when you’re here though would be by the hammocks on the side where you can see the waters when you look down.

Overall, it was a great experience staying at Mövenpick. If you’re working on a tight budget or looking for a good beach party scene, then maybe it wouldn’t be the first place to consider. But it would be recommended if you’re trying to avoid crowds, wanting to relax or just looking for a place to chill - with wine in hand, sand on your toes and a nice tan on your skin.
