COLOMBIA: Santa Marta & Bogotá

Colombia was the first country in Latin America that I got the chance to visit, and for some reasons or events that I will not mention, I will definitely never forget it :) During the trip, we went to Santa Marta in Magdalena, which offered access to beaches in the Caribbean Sea. We stayed around the Pozo Colorado area for a weekend, and I was able to walk to Playa Bello Horizonte (that I counted as my exercise for the day), which was really nice!

Pozo Colorado, Santa Marta

The Santa Marta city center was alive and colorful with lots of great places to drink and eat amazing food. We walked around during the day and the night, and there was always something going on. There was also a beach that was in the city center, but it was packed with locals, and I was quite shocked when I saw it! I took a photo, and you'll see that below.

Now of course, the capital, Bogotá, was not something I could easily compare to Santa Marta. The weather alone was very different, with it being always gloomy in Bogotá when I was there! I guess the main area to explore in the capital would be La Candelaria - busy and crowded, but worth checking out. Around the area, you'll have the main square in front of the church, as well as a couple of museums that were really interesting and insightful.
